Braceville

WHAT: Township trustees meetings Aug. 5 and Sept. 2

PRESENT: Todd Garland, Jeff Tucker and Dennis Kuchta

Trustees:

• Approved Martuccio Paving at $47,600 for paving the park walking trail near the fire and road departments.

• Heard from residents interested in holding a garage sale day for homes along state Routes 5 and 82 similar to other communities.

• Were informed the fire department received a $5,719 grant for emergency medical supplies and training. The department also is seeking Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation funds for radios for the trucks.

• Set trick or treat 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31 with a trunk or treat at the fire station during the same time.

• Approved demolition of properties declared unsafe at 5022 Collins Drive, 544 Braceville Robinson Road and 3031 state Route 5.

• Announced that Braceville Robinson Road is not scheduled for paving this year.

• Heard from Garland that a paraglider crashed into a tall tree in the township and was rescued by fire crews.

• Announced fall cleanup is set 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 11 at the old Braceville school property for unwanted items and scrap tires.

• Approved replacing 11 lights at the fire department at $1,870.

Fowler

WHAT: Township trustees meeting Sept. 8

PRESENT: Jeff Davis, Lynn Michalec and Todd Williams

Trustees:

• Passed a resolution to require police at any events held in the township offering alcoholic beverages, regardless of the number of attendees, excluding private events on private property. Any event held in the township with more than 50 attendees will require one police officer at the host’s expense, and any event held in the township with more than 100 attendees will require two police officers at the host’s expense. All necessary permits shall be obtained through the proper agencies by the host / function coordinator.

• Passed a resolution that political signs can be put up no sooner than 45 days before the date of an election. All signs must be removed within seven days after the election. All other rules governing political signs will be governed in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code.

• Approved a $100 donation to St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Vienna for Halloween candy for a trick-or-treat event.

• Approved payment of $6,555 to the Cortland Fire Department for medic assists June through August.

• Approved payment of $3,185 to Warren Springs of Ohio for the replacement of rusted springs on a tanker truck.
