Liberty motel patron’s report leads to warrant arrest
LIBERTY — A Bristolville woman’s court case through Warren Municipal Court has been reopened months later after Liberty police arrested her on an active warrant Sunday evening.
Alicia Beckwith, 34, was set to appear in Warren Municipal Court Monday on two fifth-degree drug possession charges, but the court docket states she refused to appear via video. She’s set to appear in Girard Municipal Court today for drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments charges.
According to the police report, an officer checking the lot of the Belmont Avenue Super 8 motel was flagged down by one of its patrons. The report states the patron told the officer that there was a “short, blonde white girl” in one of the rooms allegedly “selling her (expletive) day and night” — adding that the man she was staying with, a “skinny, taller, white male” with several tattoos was allegedly walking to an adjacent park and buying narcotics on a frequent basis from various individuals.
The patron added that the traffic in and out of their room was causing a disturbance to the point where people in nearby rooms could not sleep and the motel’s management wouldn’t do anything about it, the report states.
The officer went to the motel’s office and asked about the room, its renter and its occupants, and management provided Beckwith’s name as its renter and said she and the man with tattoos had been there for a month.
The report states the officer checked Beckwith’s name in LEADS that provided a wanted persons hit, which was confirmed with dispatch as a felony possession of drugs charge out of Warren.
The man was identified as Marcus Bradshaw, 40, of Warren, and the officer noted in the report that he was aware of his appearance from multiple prior interactions.
The report states that Liberty police units went to the room Beckwith was staying in to make contact with the occupants, and Beckwith stepped out and closed the door behind her. She was taken into police custody without incident.
Beckwith identified Bradshaw as being in the room with her, and the officer knocked on the door to have him come out and speak with him.
The report states officers performed a protective sweep of the room for other wanted persons or children in the room. Officers reportedly found multiple items of paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments, including hypodermic needles, meth pipes and scales.
The report states Beckwith told officers that she was the room’s renter and there were more needles throughout the room along with drug paraphernalia, and that she and Bradshaw were users. She granted officers permission to search the room more, and they found sex toys attached to the wall, with trash and debris everywhere, according to the report.
The report states officers also found other drug paraphernalia items, such as pipes, syringes, snorting straws and other scales among other connected items, which were all collected as evidence.
Both Bradshaw and Beckwith were charged with drug paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments. Bradshaw is set to appear in Girard Municipal Court today on those charges, according to court records.
