Warren police recover gun stolen from Girard

WARREN — Warren police recovered a stolen firearm and arrested two men following a disturbance call early Tuesday at a residence on Iowa Avenue NW.

Ian Wright, 22, of West Avenue NW, appeared before Warren Municipal Court Judge Natasha K. Natale on Tuesday, where he pleaded not guilty to felony tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property.

Kaiden Prychodnik, 19, of Vernon Avenue NW, pleaded not guilty before Judge Natale on Tuesday as well. His charge was a misdemeanor of obstructing official business.

Both men were given a $50,000 bond with their next court appearances set for today.

Court records from Wright’s case show the victim to be a 46-year-old woman from Girard.

According to a Warren police report, the case involved multiple charges, including tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property, carrying concealed weapons and drug possession.

Officers responded around 5:55 a.m. after multiple callers reported yelling and a possible weapon at the scene.

Upon arrival, police observed a man exiting a black 2017 Chevrolet Malibu and approaching two others near another vehicle, with four women yelling in the front yard.

One man, later identified as a suspect, was noncompliant, tensing up and pulling away from officers before being detained.

Another suspect was seen tossing an object behind a vehicle, which officers identified as a pistol, confirmed stolen from Girard through the Law Enforcement Automated Data System database, a statewide system used by Ohio law enforcement to access and share information on criminal records, wanted persons, stolen property and vehicle data.

The firearm was recovered and secured as evidence.

During the investigation, officers found a clear plastic bag containing a pink putty-like substance, suspected to be drugs, on the Malibu’s passenger seat floorboard, alongside the second suspect’s wallet and bank card.

A third man at the scene complied with officers and was released.

Both suspects were read their Miranda rights, declined to speak and were transported to Trumbull County Jail for booking.

The pink substance was sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation Laboratory for testing, with potential additional charges pending results.

Starting at $3.23/week.
