Trumbull Regional, Hillside report break-ins

WARREN — Two medical facilities in Trumbull County were broken into between Aug. 15 and Aug. 18, with more than 1,200 OxyContin pills stolen from the former Trumbull Regional Medical Center and hand tools worth $400 taken from Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, police said.

So far no arrests have been made and the investigation into both incidents is ongoing.

A separate vandalism incident at the former Trumbull Regional Medical Center on Aug. 20 damaged two windows and involved discharged fire extinguishers, according to Warren police reports.

A staff member reported Monday that a safe was broken into, and more than 1,200 OxyContin pills were missing from the hospital on East Market Street in Warren.

On Aug. 20, police found a shattered window at the facility with a brick thrown through it. A second window was also reported broken. Fire extinguishers were discharged inside, leaving footprints in multiple hallways.

At Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital on Squires Lane, Howland police reported Monday that side doors barricaded with wood were forced open, and hand tools valued at $400 were stolen. Another door was found open, but no additional items were reported missing.

On Wednesday, between 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Trumbull Regional Medical Center at 1350 E. Market St. reported vandalism. A security guard found a broken window on the east side of a building across from the hospital, with a brick on a desk inside an office.

No entry was made through that window. A second window, with a metal grate unscrewed and plywood kicked in, was also damaged.

Fire extinguishers were discharged inside, with footprints leading through hallways. Police searched the hospital, but found no suspects.
