Trial dates set for defendants in Warren massage parlor case

WARREN — Seven defendants charged in connection with an alleged human trafficking ring at two Warren massage parlors will face a final pre-trial hearing on Feb. 10, with a trial date set for March 16, both before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice, according to court records.

The defendants, Charles McGill, Chang Hwang, Tae Suk Hwang, Young Sug Kim, Dong Meliodon, Miock Dong Schaffer, and Young Hee Yoon, are accused of operating a crime ring at Tiger Spa and Sunny Spa, involving charges of trafficking in persons, promoting prostitution, money laundering, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, according to the indictment.

Separately, defendant Suk Hui Starr is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Sept. 17, before Judge Sean J. O’Brien. Starr, who pleaded not guilty on Aug. 15, faces charges including promoting prostitution, money laundering and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. Her bond was continued, and she was required to surrender her passport.
