Race to run through ‘best parts of’ city
Warren to host 5K run, walk
WARREN — The city will host its first Warren’s Got Max 5K on Sept. 6 in downtown Warren.
The event, organized by Will Harris and Lanell Lewis, will aim to bring the community together for a day of fitness and fun, the pair said.
The 5K race will start at the corner of East Market Street and Mahoning Avenue, near the Veterans Service Commission building.
Runners will follow a route up Mahoning Avenue, around Packard Park, and back to the starting point. The race will offer medals, T-shirts, and gift bags to participants, with a closing ceremony at the finish line.
Harris and Lewis said the 5K is designed to encourage health and wellness while helping people feel more connected to their community. The route passes through Warren’s historic district, showcasing notable buildings and the city’s history.
“We want people to feel good about moving around, seeing the best parts of Warren, and celebrating together,” Harris said.
The event is sponsored by INNR VWS Media LLC, a local media company founded by Lewis in 2020. The company focuses on covering community events and producing a podcast called Between the Lines with Coach Stella. Several local businesses and organizations are also supporting the 5K, including the City of Warren, Color Three Embroidery, Urban Tap Bar and Grill, Ellie House, Phillips Care Training, Canaries USA, and Annik’s Events. DJ Get It will provide music, and HD Free Productions will take photos and videos.
Runners can expect water and yellow Gatorade at drink stations along the route, with first aid stations available, including nurses at the start line. Spectators are welcome to cheer on participants.
Registration is open at warrengotmax.com/registration, with a $30 fee for adults and $20 for youth under 17. Organizers encourage pre-registration to ensure participants receive T-shirts, certificates, and swag bags, as supplies may be limited for same-day sign-ups. Day-of registration will also be available.
Harris and Lewis hope the Warren’s Got Max 5K becomes an annual tradition.
“We want people to feel comfortable in their community and enjoy being active together,” Lewis said.
