Food stolen from St. Vincent de Paul

WARREN — A break-in occurred at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, resulting in the theft of bulk food products valued at over $1,000, according to a Warren Police Department report.

The theft took place between 1:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday at 2355 Niles Road SE. The report states that two unknown suspects tampered with surveillance cameras, including one on the north side of the building, which was manually turned from the roof.

The suspects pried open an entry door with a screwdriver, causing no damage, and removed a metal window grate to enter through an unlocked window into the dining hall’s kitchen.

Once inside, the suspects loaded large amounts of bulk food products into one or two shopping carts, the report states.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects’ faces in black and white, showing them wearing bulky clothing and hats, with one carrying a backpack.

One suspect was seen leaving southbound on Niles Road. toward Wallace Street, while the other was believed to have gone northbound.

The organization’s CEO reported that an inventory is being conducted to identify the stolen items. A USB video surveillance device was recovered by police. No arrests were made, and the investigation continues.
