Two indicted in Foster Metro Park robberies
WARREN — Two people accused of two separate robberies at Foster Metro Park in Newton Township were indicted Wednesday by a Trumbull County grand jury on charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification.
Dennis M. Lange, 21, of Queens Drive, Warren, and Iyana Barlow, 23, of Butler, Pa., were arraigned June 9 in Newton Falls Municipal Court on two counts each of first-degree aggravated robbery with a firearm specification.
At the time of their arrest, Trumbull County Sheriff’s Major Doug Bobovnyik said Barlow lured victims through social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, and arranged meetings at the park. Authorities believe Barlow initiated the robberies, with the motive of stealing firearms.
The first robbery occurred May 18 at 1:30 a.m., when a man reported being threatened at gunpoint by three people who stole his firearm after meeting a woman through a Facebook dating app. A second robbery on May 23 at 11:30 p.m. followed a similar pattern, with the suspects fleeing in a large SUV or pickup truck after taking the victim’s firearm.
Lange turned himself in at the sheriff’s department June 5 following an interview, while Barlow was arrested at her Queens Drive home during a search executed by the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, Trumbull Action Group and Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force.
Also indicted Wednesday was Charles Shultz, 52, of Warren, on two counts of rape, two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition and tampering with evidence.
The charges stem from an alleged incident on Aug. 20, 2024, in Weathersfield, with the charge filed and a warrant issued April 24. No further information on the charges was available Wednesday afternoon.
