Fire crews douse July 4 garage fire
BAZETTA — Fire crews were called out late Friday to a garage fire that crews say was caused by fireworks discarded in a trash can by the side of a garage.
The Bazetta Fire Department received a call just before midnight on the Fourth of July about a structure fire on Stonegate Drive,
Both Bazetta fire and police arrived at the scene to see flames and smoke coming from the side of the house. The fire was under control quickly and did not spread to the home.
Reports state residents of the home attempted to put the fire out with an extinguisher. The fire was caused by fireworks thrown into a trash can that was placed there at 10:30 p.m. before the fire began and spread to a wall of the garage.
Crews from Howland and Cortland fire departments and the Youngstown Air Reserve Station assisted Bazetta safety crews at the scene. There were no injuries.
