AWL rescues 43 animals from property in Warren Township

WARREN TOWNSHIP — The Animal Welfare League rescued more than 43 animals Tuesday that were living in deplorable conditions at a property off Risher Road.

The AWL on its social media site reported humane officers received a call concerning the welfare of numerous animals living in unsanitary conditions. Officials found dozens of dogs in cages stacked on top of each other in filthy conditions.

The social media site states that in addition to dogs, there were also horses, chickens and one small parrot on the property. Three dead puppies also were discovered in the home.

Trumbull County Dog Warden and Healthy Hearts and Paws Project director Jason Cooke helped the AWL with transport of the animals. Cooke said at a Warren Township trustees meeting Tuesday that the dogs were rescued from a puppy mill at the Risher Road property.

Starting at $3.23/week.
