Axess Family Services coming to Trumbull
WARREN — With the closures of Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull and Insight Rehabilitation Hospital Hillside, a new health service facility is entering the area at a much-needed time.
Mandi Larson, Director of Clinical Services at Axess Family Services, spoke Wednesday on what services the company will provide at the Trumbull Senior Collaborative’s April meeting at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. Axess Family Services will have a physical presence in the community.
“I am here to announce that we are opening a new health center in downtown Warren at our 150 E. Market Street location. We saw our first patient last Friday, and our pharmacy moved in yesterday. It is the former Valley Counseling Services. They will be known as Valley Health Services as part of this merger,” Larson said.
The facility will provide multiple health services at one location.
“It is still the same quality behavioral health care that you have always received in this community, but we are just expanding and adding additional health care service,” Larson said.
In addition to behavioral health, primary care, pharmacy and dental services are available. Primary care is on Fridays and pharmacy is Monday through Friday. The facility is for people from birth through death.
“We will provide preventative care, wellness visits, sick visits. We can serve the entire family. The dental services — besides routine exams, we can do root canals, crowns and dentures. They are in high demand in this area. We will also be providing lab services,” Larson said.
She said Axess is a federally funded facility and receives grant money to provide these services.
Payment should not be an issue for residents who visit the health care site.
“We provide all services regardless of the patient’s ability to pay. We accept all major commercial insurances, Medicaid, Medicare, most of the marketplace, but we also provide a sliding fee scale,” Larson said.
The facility is open to schedule appointments and will have an open house May 1.
“We are bringing quality health care that Axess has been providing in Summit and Portage counties since the late ’90s into Warren with plans for expansion,” she said.
“We are very excited about this merger that has occurred with our parent organization, Family and Community Services, which merged with Axess Pointe Healthcare Services out of Akron,” said Mike Wilson, Director of SCOPE Senior Services. “When they merged, the idea was, we’re doing a lot for veterans. We’re doing a lot for seniors. We’re doing a lot for children. We’re doing a lot for the homeless all over the area.”
“With the merger, the thought was, ‘Okay, hopefully, we can start expanding in other counties with Axess Family Services, which is what our company name is, expand throughout all the counties where we already have programming. I think we have 40 counties, almost half the counties in Ohio have a program. Selfishly, I think, ‘What is going to help our seniors?’ But, it is, ‘What is going to help everyone in our community?’,” Wilson said, referring to the Insight closures.
