Lakeview hires new superintendent

CORTLAND — The Lakeview Local School District on Monday hired Ashley Handrych as its new superintendent beginning with the 2024-25 school year.

She is replacing Velina Jo Taylor, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Board of Education President Mark Harper said the board was unanimous in its support of Handrych.

“Her commitment to Lakeview Schools is unwavering, and her vision for the future is exciting,” he said.

Handrych is a Lakeview graduate.

“She is known for her collaborative leadership style, which fosters a culture of teamwork and innovation. She believes in empowering educators and families to work together to create a supportive and enriching learning environment. She looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders to ensure that our students thrive throughout their time at Lakeview and beyond,” the release states.
