Warren man sentenced in federal drug case
A Warren man who pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio, Cleveland, to federal drug charges in October was sentenced to a seven-year prison term.
Lynn Williams Jr., 23, of Commerce Avenue NW, last fall received five-year probation from Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Logan for drug possession convictions on cases dating back to 2020 and 2021.
On Oct. 6, 2022, Williams entered guilty pleas before U.S. Judge Dan Aaron Polster to charges of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl; possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime; two counts of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and Tramadol; and distribution of fentanyl.
Monday, Polster sentenced him to consecutive terms totaling 84 months. The court also recommended Williams enroll in a residential drug abuse program in a suitable facility close to the district. After his release from federal prison, Williams must serve three years under supervision. He also must pay a special court cost of $500.
The federal case involves 11 controlled buys of fentanyl made from Williams between Sept. 4, 2020, and Jan. 8, 2021. The case was investigated by Warren police and the sheriff office’s Trumbull Action Group.
