McKinley library gets new director
NILES — The McKinley Memorial Library trustees have filled three executive positions at the library.
Carrie Kibby was named as director, Sonya Picuri was named deputy director and Linda L. Isaac was named fiscal officer.
Kibby previously was named interim director after Michelle Alleman left the director position in November to become the deputy director at the Akron-Summit County Public Library.
Isaac was previously named interim fiscal officer after Christine Vinion left the position last month. Isaac is a 32-year employee of the library. The position of deputy director is a new one.
Before she became interim director, Kibby served as public services manager. She has been with the library for 23 years.
“This is my childhood library,” Kibby said. “I’m a Dragon through-and-through.”
She said the McKinley library has become part of her and she is excited to be named the director. She said her focus right now will be on meeting the needs of the public.
Gone are the days when libraries were just for books, Kibby said. She wants the public to know how much the library has to offer.
The library’s mission statement states, “Create community connections. Provide information in many formats. Facilitate lifelong love of learning.” Kibby said she whole-heartedly believes in this and it will guide her work as director.
“We’re proud of our new additions here,” board President John Yuhasz said. “We have great expectations here, and Carrie, you have been doing great as our interim director. I expect that will continue.”
