Motorist strikes bear on Route 11
JOHNSTON — A Trumbull County 911 report stated a vehicle struck a black bear on state Route 11 near mile marker 61 in Johnston Township on Friday morning.
The report stated a passing motorist called dispatchers about 10:45 a.m. to say the bear was still alive “flip flopping” around passing vehicles. Several vehicles stopped to assist. A brown Buick Enclave was involved in the accident. The driver was not injured, although 911 dispatchers sent a medical squad.
The bear was removed from the road and had died by 10:58 a.m., the report states. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources was contacted.
