Niles man indicted on assault, child endangering charges

WARREN — A Niles man is indicted on a charge of felonious assault and two counts of felony child endangering following his arrest by Niles officers in late April.

Gavin Andrew Butterfield, 20, of Youll Street, was arrested April 27 in the 2100 block of Robbins Avenue after a Niles police officer found a 2-year-old boy with “multiple bruises all over his body” after the child was in the emergency department at Trumbull Regional Medical Center. Children Services contacted Niles police, the police report states.

Butterfield is the mother’s live-in boyfriend, according to a police report. He initially was charged with domestic violence and child endangering, a third-degree felony, according to records from the Trumbull County jail, where he has been held without bond since his arrest.
