New fire chief in Weathersfield

WEATHERSFIELD — Township trustees on Tuesday named Tom Lambert as the new fire chief, replacing Ken Boring who stepped down from the post last month.

Lambert, who has been with the Weathersfield Fire Department since 1986, has served most recently as a fire captain and a safety officer. He will oversee the three fire stations in the township.

Trustee Chairman Steve Gerberry said Lambert was selected from three applicants.

Trustees also named Jeff Tucker as new fire captain to fill Lambert’s former post at the Mineral Ridge fire station. He has been with fire department for 14 years and most recently was a fire lieutenant.

Gerberry said Lambert will make a recommendation to trustees who will fill Tucker’s former lieutenant position.

Boring will still do fire inspections and some work with the fire department.
