WARREN — A Niles man was indicted Friday on charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification for an August 2018 holdup at a Girard used car dealership.

Thomas J. Kuhn, 39, of Garfield Street, is due in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court May 3 for arraignment.

Car Town Motor Sales on South State Street in Girard reported that a man, later identified as Kuhn, walked into the business and asked to test drive a red 2007 Pontiac G6. After returning from the test drive, the man followed the employee into a back room while discussing a purchase, and then pushed him into a corner and pulled out a handgun, according to a police report.

The man demanded the keys to the car, cash and the employee’s cellphone, the report states. The next day, Kuhn was arrested in New Castle, Pa. driving a stolen black Pontiac G-6.

Just days before the holdup at the car dealership, Kuhn was released on bond from the Trumbull County Jail, where he was being held on charges connected to a July breakin at the Linsey Lou Coin Laundry in Warren, the police report states.

Kuhn was one of two men arrested after reports men were breaking into coin machines at the West Market Street laundromat. Kuhn said he was there doing some work on the building and he gave police a name of someone he claimed was the owner of the building who is not the owner, the report states.
