Warren man indicted in meth lab case
WARREN – A Warren man was indicted Tuesday by a Trumbull County grand jury after Warren police accused him of making methamphetamine in a southwest-side apartment where several small children lived.
Keoni L. Walker II, 29, 70 Spruce Trail SW, faces felony charges of illegal manufacture of drugs, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs and aggravated posession of drugs and a misdemeanor charge of illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
If found guilty of all charges, Walker faces a maximum of more than 27 years in prison. His case has been assigned to Judge W. Wyatt McKay
According to a police report, off-duty Warren officers were flagged down the afternoon of July 14 by a Fifth Street SW woman, who said a man was making methamphetamine in a Hampshire House apartment on Fifth Street SW.
The woman led police to a trash bin where they found a black-and-white backpack that contained the suspected drugs, the report states. The woman said the man was cooking meth in a bedroom where babies were sleeping, police said.
Two ambulances and the fire department were called to the scene for decontamination of the apartment, as well as two infant children and their mother who were inside, according to the report. Walker, who was also decontaminated, told officers the small lab belonged to a relative, according to the report.
County jail records show that Walker remains in custody on a $5,000 bond set in Warren Municipal Court.
