Police chief in Vienna retires
VIENNA – Former police Chief Andrew Pecchio resigned from his position last month due to a combination of health and Ohio Public Employee Retirement System concerns, according to Richard Dacenzo Jr., co-chairman of the Vienna Township Board of Trustees.
“He left here on good terms,” Dacenzo said. “In the approximately 3 1/2 years he worked as our police chief, Pecchio worked to improve the department.”
Bob Ludt was named the township’s interim police chief through the end of the year.
Ludt served 35 years with the Niles Police Department and five years as police chief in Johnston. He will be paid $500 a month plus $12.50 an hour in the part-time position.
“We (trustees) decided to name the interim chief until the end of the year because we typically appoint people to new positions, such as the police and fire chiefs, at the beginning of the year,” Dacenzo said.
Vienna Police Department has two full-time officers, a part-time chief and 11 part-time officers.
“Our officers generally have other full-time positions,” he said.
