Liberty easily passes police levy

LIBERTY — Law enforcement in the township will be able to continue maintaining its strong presence in the community, thanks to residents. The measure passed by a margin of 66% to 34%, according to complete and unofficial results from the Trumbull County Board of Elections. The levy would collect an estimated $823,492 per year, according to numbers from Trumbull County Auditor Martha Yoder. Newton Falls Law Director Jeff Limbian filed as an independent for a Mahoning County Common Pleas Court judicial seat while Michael Philip Walton submitted petitions as an independent for the 64th Ohio House District post. Limbian of Youngstown and Walton of Warren turned in petitions on Monday, the independent filing deadline. Two others filed as independent candidates last week. Lordstown looks to extend moratorium on data centers

LORDSTOWN — Village council is planning to extend the moratorium on applications for data centers for an additional 180 days beyond the current 180-day moratorium. Councilwoman Jessica Blank requested at Monday’s meeting that the village advertise for a public hearing in June to get public input on extending the moratorium established earlier this year. California: State Farm violated law in handling of 2025 wildfire claims

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California is seeking millions of dollars in penalties from State Farm after an investigation found the insurance company was slow to investigate and underpaid claims from the 2025 Los Angeles-area wildfires, regulators announced Monday. State Farm violated the law hundreds of times in a sampling of 220 cases, Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara said.
