Wed. 1:30 p.m.: More details released in GM cuts

Following last week’s announcement that General Motors’ Lordstown Complex will cut its second shift in mid-June, the company today filed a WARN Act notice with Trumbull County Job and Family Services stating that 1,289 production workers, 151 tradesmen, and 60 salaried workers would be affected by the layoff. The WARN Act (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) requires employers to give employees at least 60 days’ notice of a mass layoff.

A major GM supplier, Lordstown Seating Systems, also filed a WARN Act notice on Tuesday, saying that it believes approximately 83 hourly and union positions will be cut. The company said the layoffs would take place between June 15 and June 29. Salary layoffs will take effect by June 29.

Starting at $3.23/week.
