Thu., 2:25pm: Gina Burger’s mother hospitalized after suspected overdose
AUSTINTOWN — The mother of a township girl fatally stabbed last month at a local apartment complex was taken by ambulance to a Youngstown hospital after a neighbor found her unresponsive.
Witnesses identified the woman as Jacqueline Bacher, 45, of Compass West apartments. Bacher’s daughter, Gina Burger, 16, died after being stabbed June 23. Burger’s body was discovered a few days later at a Pennsylvania landfill.
Police responded to Bacher’s apartment on the third floor of 987 Compass West just before 8 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a suspected “drug offense,” according to an Austintown police report.
Although Bacher’s name was redacted on the police report, residents of the apartment complex identified Bacher as the woman officers found on a couch going in and out of consciousness. She was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where she reportedly remains today.
Police reports state that spoons with burnt bottoms and suspected residue were found in the nightstand of a bedroom.
Ricki Williams IV, 18, has been charged with murder in Burger’s death. A witness told investigators Williams stabbed Burger in the chest then forced the female witness to help him conceal Burger’s body in a portable playpen, and put it into a Dumpster outside the apartment.
Williams is being held at the Mahoning County Jail on $750,000 bond.
