Car bomb in Yemen kills 3
ADEN, Yemen (AP) — A car bomb explosion on Wednesday killed three people in southern Yemen. Witnesses and security officials say the attack appeared to target a leader in the Saudi-backed Giants Brigades.
Hamdy Shoukry survived, but six people in his motorcade were injured. At least three bodies were taken to Ibn Khaldoun Hospital. A security official confirmed the attack impacted Shoukry’s motorcade.
No group has claimed responsibility.
Yemen has been embroiled in a civil war for over a decade, involving complex sectarian and tribal issues. The Giants Brigades work with Saudi-backed forces to regain control of southern areas.
