Virus patients filling up some hospitals

Some hospitals in the state are filling up with patients with COVID-19, most of them unvaccinated, said Bruce Vanderhoff, Ohio Department of Health director. Ohio cases still on rise

The number of COVID-19 cases in Ohio has increased by almost 13 times the amount in six weeks and continues to be on the rise. The state was at 338.1 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents for the period between Aug. 12 and Wednesday, according to statistics provided Thursday by the Ohio Department of Health. Area care facilities see jump this week

Two Mahoning County long-term care facilities saw a spike in COVID-19 cases this week. The Inn at Walker Way assisted-living facility, 8060 South Ave., Boardman, saw the biggest jump. It has had 10 patient cases and five staff cases this week. The Marian Living assisted-living facility at 9800 Market St., North Lima, has six patient cases this week and no staff cases. Mahoning County facilities had only eight cases spread out over six facilities last week — all of them staff cases.
