Nursing homes in Mahoning see rise in cases

The number of patients and staff contracting COVID-19 at Mahoning County nursing homes and assisted-living facilities increased, rising from 35 last week to 45 this week. That also was the case for nursing homes across the state, which rose from 1,321 cases last week to 1,515 this week. Trumbull County facilities, however, saw a decrease — falling from six cases last week to three this week, all staff cases. They were at three facilities. Cases increase for third-straight day

The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Ohio increased for the third consecutive day. There were 6,882 cases reported Wednesday, up from 6,814 Tuesday. There were 4,899 cases reported Monday and 4,428 Sunday. The 6,882 COVID-19 cases Wednesday is up from the daily average of 6,562 for the past 21 days, according to the Ohio Department of Health. Lordstown schools mandate masks

LORDSTOWN — Because of a “significant increase” in the number of students with positive COVID-19 cases and the number of close contacts quarantining in the past week, the Lordstown school district now is requiring masks for all students and staff inside buildings.
