The first two cases of the omicron COVID-19 variant in Ohio were confirmed by the Ohio State University laboratory, according to a release from the Ohio Department of Health on Saturday. Both cases were in adult men in central Ohio, and both tested positive on a PCR, or polymerase chain reaction, test Tuesday. The number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 Ohio residents increased for the fifth consecutive week and is at levels not seen in a year.
