Rotary donates coats for students

GIRARD — The Girard-Liberty Rotary continues its dedicated support for local students by donating a total of 60 coats this year through the Rotary Project Warm program. Thirty coats were delivered to Girard Intermediate School recently, while another 30 coats were provided to Liberty PK-6 to help keep students warm throughout the winter months. MINERAL RIDGE — The Weathersfield Local School District is proud to announce that Mineral Ridge High School has been recognized as one of America’s Best High Schools by U.S. News & World Report. Artist presents painting to Airport Authority Board

MIDDLEFIELD — As part of the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony and groundbreaking presentation, well-known local artist Bill Mast presented the Geauga County Airport Authority board of directors with a rendering of a Cessna 172 taking flight from the runway. Mast is known locally for the mural he recreated and unveiled in October 2023 on the west side of the Middlefield Tavern building and a December 2024 gift to the people of Middlefield that depicts a Christmas tree standing in the center of town that hangs in the Middlefield Village Hall. SANTA CLAUS COMES TO TOWN: Santa Claus will arrive at the Eastwood Mall in Niles noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in the center concourse. The event will include the Salvation Army and its Red Kettle kickoff, followed by Ballet Western Reserve and its Nutcracker performance. There will be a Nutcracker tea party at the aquarium.
