Southington trustees place firefighter on leave
SOUTHINGTON — Township trustees at a special meeting/executive session on Saturday approved placing a firefighter on leave following accusations of assault.
According to a news release from fire Chief Scott Bower, trustees placed firefighter Sherry Alexander on administrative leave pending the resolution of criminal charges. Bower said the fire department and trustees uphold a high expectation of standards of all employees, whether on or off duty.
Alexander, 26, is facing a charge of felonious assault after being accused of assaulting a woman Wednesday in Weathersfield. He is in the Trumbull County jail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing today in Niles Municipal Court.
