Braceville museum to salute veterans

VETERANS CELEBRATION: The Braceville African American Heritage Museum, 1250 Cedar St. SW, will host a Celebrating Veterans program 1 p.m. Sunday.

BAAHM welcomes all veterans, families and friends to the celebration. Refreshments will be served.

DREAMS EXPERT: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will present “Unlock the Hidden Power of Dreams” with sleep expert Michelle Carr, streamed live online 2 p.m. Wednesday. Dr. Michelle Carr will discuss her new book, “Nightmare Obscura: A Dream Engineer’s Guide Through the Sleeping Mind.”

CARD MAKING CLASS: A greeting card-making class will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the Howland SCOPE Center. Materials are provided. Participants make four different cards in each class.

TEENS UPCYCLING: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will present Teen Scene: Upcycling Mint Tins, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Teens ages 12-18 are invited to learn how to transform hinged mint tins into useful crafts. Tins may be made into trinket boxes, wallets or tiny scrapbooks. All supplies will be provided. Registration is recommended at 330-652-1704, ext. 4.

CHAIR YOGA: Improve flexibility and de-stress with chair yoga 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Mary Brown of A Moment for Me Yoga and Wellness Center will guide participants through gentle stretches using a chair for support. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.

AUTHOR TALK: The McKinley Memorial Library will present “Book Portals and Journeys of Literary Magic” with Kate Quinn, streamed live online 7 p.m. Thursday.

New York Times bestselling author Kate Quinn will discuss “The Astral Library,” which poses the question, have you ever wished you could live inside a book?

PHOTOGRAPHY DOCUMENTARY: The Youngstown Area Jewish Film Series will show “A Feminist Lens: The Art & Activism of Photographer Joan Roth” at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane.

The 30-minute documentary focuses on five decades of Joan Roth’s pioneering photography. The event will include a mini-gallery of Roth’s work, as well as a live talkback via Zoom. Light refreshments will be served.
