Learn about Bigfoot in Niles
BIGFOOT RESEARCHING: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host a program with Bigfoot researcher Amy Bue at 6 p.m. Thursday. A writer and educator from Northeast Ohio, Bue’s fascination with Bigfoot started in 2012, when she saw something she couldn’t explain. Although Bue’s private field research is concentrated in Pennsylvania’s Allegheny National Forest, and her work with the Olympic Project is based in Washington State, she crosses the country speaking and researching in areas of high interest while following up on witness reports and looking for evidence of Bigfoot’s existence. BLOOD DRIVE: A blood drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cortland Masonic Lodge fellowship hall, 3263 Everett Hull Road. INSPIRING MINDS HOSTS CONFERENCE: The fourth annual IMpower conference hosted by Inspiring Minds will be held Saturday at Kent State University Trumbull. More than 100 local students in grades 6 to 12 are scheduled to attend. At the conference students will participate in sessions focused on college, careers, physical and mental health and wellness, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and Black history, African drumming, art and music. The keynote speaker is Erica Glover, an educator and HR professional who will focus on equity and inclusion within the academic system and beyond. AUTHOR TO SPEAK: Tom Welsh, local author and historian, will present a program on Mahoning Valley breweries at 10 a.m. Saturday at Denny’s Restaurant meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. The program is part of the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society;s Memories of a Lifetime Lecture Series. Welsh will discuss the rise, heyday, decline and rebirth of Valley brewing companies.
