NILES TREE LIGHTING: The Niles Lions Club will host the annual Christmas tree lighting 6:30 p.m. today at the safety service complex. There will be instrumental music and caroling by Niles McKinley High School students. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will attend. The tree will be lit by Miss Niles and Little Miss Niles.

SANTA AT GIRARD FREE LIBRARY: Santa Claus will be at the Girard Free Library at 6 p.m. today. Santa will arrive by fire truck. The Grinch will also be there. The public can take photos with Santa and the Grinch in the Christmas tree lane or mini Whoville. In addition, the public can decorate holiday cookies.

NEIGHBORHOOD MEETING: The Northwest Neighborhood Association monthly meeting is 6:30 p.m. today, at Grace Methodist Church on Drexel Avenue. The speaker is Franco Lucarelli, Warren Water Department Director. Socks for the Warren Family Mission are always welcome. Also, the church pantry is in need of nonperishable food items.

KIDS BINGO: The 44444 the People will sponsor a children’s Christmas bingo event from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Vinny’s, 425 Ridge Road, Newton Falls, The event will be bingo for children. Doors open at noon. There will be prizes, refreshments and basket raffle. Tickets are $10 for both adults and children by calling 330-554-8317.

HOLIDAY CREATION: The Girard Free Library will host a holiday diamond art craft at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, to register, call 330-545-2508.

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA: Blackstone Funeral Home has partnered for Wreaths Across America and will place wreaths on veterans’ graves at the Girard City Cemetery. The community can sponsor a wreath for each veteran’s grave while paying tribute to fallen veterans. Blackstone has held the event for the past six years with 1,300 wreaths placed in 2024. Each wreath costs $17. To order a wreath call Blackstone Funeral Home at 330-539-5955 or send check to Wreaths Across America c/o Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Raod, Girard 44420.

RAILROAD ASSOCIATION OPEN HOUSE: The Youngstown Model Railroad Association will host an open house from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Dec. 13 and 14 at the club located at the corner of Raccoon Road and Four Mile Run Road in Austintown. Model trains of all shapes and sizes will be displayed. The association is one of the few clubs in the country that has two complete displays of “O” scale and “HO” scale. A donation of $5 per person is requested, Children age 11 and younger with an adult are admitted free.

MOVIE CLUB: The McKinley Memorial Library will host Movie Club at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles. Participants will watch the selected movie at home, then meet fellow movie buffs for a friendly discussion. This month, participants will watch “Harvey,” directed by Henry Koster.

GIVING TUESDAY: The global day of generosity is a chance to support the Trumbull County Historical Society and help it continue preserving the history of the community, offering programs, and connecting people of all ages to the stories that make Trumbull County unique. Today through December 8, the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is matching every gift to agency funds doubling the impact of your support. Every donation, no matter the size, helps the society care for local history, bring exhibits and programs to life, and provide educational opportunities for everyone. Give online to the Endowment Fund or Operating Fund through the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

WALK WITH A DOC: Youngstown State University’s Bitonte College of Health and Human Services continues its commitment to public health through the Walk with a Doc program, a free community wellness initiative at the Southern Park Mall. The program takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday and is led by YSU physical therapy faculty and students. Each session begins with a brief health talk before participants join in a walk around the mall. This month’s health talk is Cold Weather Preparation.

Walk with a Doc is part of an international nonprofit founded in 2005 to encourage healthier lifestyles through movement and conversation with medical professionals. The walks are free and open to the public. All ages and fitness levels are welcome, and no registration is required.

WINDOW STARS CRAFT: McKinley Memorial Library will present Easy Tissue Paper Window Stars craft from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles.

Craft a colorful window star using tissue paper. All supplies will be provided. Ages 12 and up. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, Ext. 3.

FREE CRAFT NIGHT: Clover Recycling will host a craft night 5:30 p.m. Thursday, at 1411 W. Market St., Warren.

Join crafty Clovers making holiday decor using books and other recycled materials — supplies and instructions provided.
