Seeing Eye: Vienna Historical Society plans to host Home Day
VIENNA HOME DAY: The Vienna Historical Society will host its annual Home Day on Saturday at the township center. The Copper Penny building where the historical society meets will be open for visitors and items such as yearbooks will be available for sale. Self guided tours can be done of the historic township green. There also will be a basket raffle. A parade begins at 11 a.m. from St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church through Vienna Center and ending at the township park.
There will be music, food, old-fashioned games, egg judging contest, High 5 foam party, cornhole, a bounce house, gold mining and a farmers market.
TEACHERS TO SPEAK ON POLAND TRIP: Area teachers who recently participated in a Classrooms Without Borders trip to Poland will share their experiences at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the JCC of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.
The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation event will include not only this year’s participants, but those from the past three years as well. The two-week trip with a Holocaust survivor immersed participants in the history and culture of the Holocaust.
Teachers attending this year were Brian Bugos (Newton Falls High School), Christen Jones (West Middlesex Area School District), Ryan Kish (Campbell City School District) and Jodi West (Akiva Academy).

FARMERS MARKET WEEK: The Warren Farmers Market joins markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week with the local market 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at North Park Commons, 347 N. Park Ave. in Warren. The market will feature a cooking demonstration, free seed giveaway, live music, children’s activities, free yoga and a giveaway for the first 20 customers, who will receive $15 in WFM tokens.
National Farmers Market Week is an annual celebration of farmers markets proclaimed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and coordinated by the Farmers Market Coalition, a membership-based nonprofit organization that supports farmers markets nationwide. The Warren Farmers Market accepts SNAP/EBT cards and matches SNAP purchases with the Produce Perks program, allowing residents to double their dollars to spend on fruits and vegetables. WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers are accepted, as well as Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.
DENMAN TIRE REUNION: The Denman Tire reunion picnic will be 1 to 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Southington American Legion. All former employees are invited, Those attending are asked to RSVP by Aug. 9 to Don Strock at 330-979-2808 or David Campbell at 330-442-7268.
BOOKMOBILE AT MOSQUITO LAKE: The Warren Trumbull County Public Library’s Bookmobile will visit the Mosquito Lake Storybook Trail 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the park, 3372 E. Warren Meadville Road, Bazetta. Jason Lee, park naturalist with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Parks and Watercraft, will do a program with reptiles.
STEAM PROGRAM: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host Kids Couch Paper Pinwheels 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday for ages 5 to 11 at the Mckinley Birthplace Home. The event will include STEAM activities with a focus on wind speed.
JFK GET-TOGETHER: The John F. Kennedy High School Class of 1968 will have its annual get-together at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Attendees should meet under the beer tent at the Warren Italian American Festival in Courthouse Square.
