Seeing Eye: Woman will discuss her 1985 tornado experience

REMEMBERING THE 1985 TORNADO: Kelly Izzo will discuss her experience as a survivor of the tornado that ripped through Niles on May 31, 1985, at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. The Niles Historical Society will display a range of photographs and articles from the 1985 tornado.

COMMUNITY GARAGE SALES: Champion Township is hosting the annual community garage sales Thursday to Sunday Registration is required to take part in the garage sale with the fee being waived. Register at www.champion community calendar.com.

Only sales submitted by the eform will be considered registered. Community members and businesses are encouraged to have a yellow balloon to signify a sale at their property. The Champion community calendar will include sales locations on an online list.

DISTRIBUTION DAY: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2742 North Road NE. Howland, will host a distribution day 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday for diapers, baby wipes and baby clothes. The distribution is part of Katharina’s Closet. For information, call 330-647-6402.

RACE, EQUITY AND INCLUSION: The Wean Foundation will sponsor a Race, Equity and Inclusion workshop at 10 a.m. Tuesday via Zoom. The workshop will provide an understanding of racism in its institutional and structural forms.

SOUND BATH: The Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, will hold Sound Bath at 7 p.m. Wednesday with Maria and Calvin Wagner of the Sound Therapy in Boardman.

JUDY BLUME PROGRAM: How Judy Blume rewrote childhood for many of us will be discussed by author Rachael Bergstein at 2 p.m. Wednesday streamed live online. The McKinley Memorial Library is presenting the program in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium.

The Consortium is a group of libraries that pool resources to hire well-known fiction and nonfiction adult, children’s and young adult authors to speak to their patrons. Bergstein will discuss her new book “The Genius of Judy.”
