Flag Day event kicks off Thursday
WEATHERSFIELD FLAG DAY: The annual Weathersfield Flag Day Festival will be Thursday to Saturday at the township park off Main Street. The parade is at 6 p.m. Friday and will include 100-year old Bob Thompson. The event also will recognize resident Paul Colla.
The festival includes live music, food concessions, parade, vendors, bocce, amusement rides and carnival games. Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.
FARMERS MARKET: The Warren Farmers Market will be 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 3, except July 4, at the Warren Community Amphitheatre. This year’s market will feature area vendors, freshly grown produce and a variety of homemade and handmade products.
GAB SALE: Howland Community Church, 198 Niles Cortland Road SE, will host a garage, attic and basement sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday, which includes a bake sale. Saturday is $5 fill-a-bag day. Bags will be provided. For information, call 330-856-3628.
SCOUT EVENT: The Stambaugh District, Great Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America’s 18th annual “Celebration of Scouting” breakfast fundraiser is June 13 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road, Poland.
The district covers Scout groups in Mahoning, Trumbull and Portage counties.
This year’s program will feature keynote speaker Andrew DiPaolo, an Eagle Scout and the weekday meteorologist for WFMJ-21 News Mid-Day.
Doors open at 7 a.m. and breakfast will be served between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. with the program concluding by 9 a.m. Reservations are requested by Friday by emailing Richard Fallon at Richard.Fallon@Scouting.org or online at https://ScoutBreakfast.givesmart.com.

WINERY MIXER: The Girard-Liberty Rotary and Churchill Commons Giant Eagle will host a Catalina Wine Mixer and concert fundraiser 5 to 9 p.m. June 15 at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Proceeds from the event will benefit Girard-Liberty Rotary projects that include the school food pantry and community projects. HEALTHY COMMUNITY DAY: Healthy Community Day is being hosted by Trumbull County MetroParks 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kent State University at Trumbull.
Activities include a bike safety / rodeo, touch a truck, archery, health screenings, healthy vendors and a disc golf demonstration.

STRAWBERRIES AND RAFFLES: The Rotary Club of Niles will be selling fresh strawberry sundaes and strawberry shortcakes beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday on the grounds of the National McKinley Birthplace Memorial. There also will be a 50 / 50 drawing and basket raffles. Proceeds support the club’s scholarship program for Niles McKinley High School. Full House will perform harmony-driven, ’60s and ’70s music at 6:30 p.m.
SUMMER READING KICKOFF: The National McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum invites children and families to the auditorium 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday to welcome author and storyteller Lindsay Bonilla. She will bring to life her new picture book, “The Note Who Faced the Music.” Participants also will be able to register for the summer reading program.
FREE COMPUTER CLASSES: The Warren-Trumbull Digital Advantage Initiative, sponsored by the Oak Hill Collaborative, Trumbull Community Action Program, Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority and the city of Warren, will offer free computer classes at TCAP, 1230 Palmyra Road SW, Warren. The classes will be 6 to 7 p.m. each day and the topics are: Thursday — Getting started with email; June 15 — Excel with Excel: Intro to spreadsheets and tables; June 22 — Scanning, sending, sent: An introduction to QR codes and shortlinks; and June 29 — Cybersecurity basics.
