Initial unemployment claims in state drop from week prior

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday that Ohioans filed 4,527 initial unemployment claims last week.
That represents a drop of 666 claims from the previous week.
Ohioans filed 40,701 continued unemployment claims last week, which was 258 fewer than the previous week.
The total number of claims filed from Oct. 12 to Oct. 18 was 45,228.
Ohio’s unemployment rate in August was 5%. The national unemployment rate in August was 4.3%. Ohio’s labor force participation rate in August was 62.5%. The national labor force participation rate in August was 62.3%.
