Fisker PEAR reservations top 5,600
WARREN — Southern California-based electric-vehicle manufacturer Fisker Inc. announced Monday it has more than 5,600 reservations for its PEAR EV, which could be made at Foxconn’s auto assembly plant in Lordstown.
The company provided the detail and other information about the PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution) in its fourth quarter and full-year 2022 financial results.
“Fisker PEAR development is progressing well, following the inaugural drivable prototype in December 2022,” the company stated in a news release announcing the results.
Fisker Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker announced in May 2022 plans to have the PEAR made in Lordstown. He did so shortly after Foxconn acquired the facility, the former General Motors small-car plant, from Lordstown Motors Corp. Foxconn and Fisker, however, do not have a formal contract manufacturing agreement in place.
Fisker also announced more details of the PEAR’s exterior. Its rear lighting is a continuous strip around the rear window with an integrated high-mounted brake light while from the side its pronounced fenders give the PEAR “a powerful, wide stance,” the release states.
The front lights feature a dual light bar and the vehicle sits higher off the ground with a raised seating position.
The target base price is $29,900.
It would be Fisker’s second EV. The first, the Ocean, has reservation list of about 65,000 vehicles. So far, 56 vehicles have been built with manufacturing partner Magna International at its plant in Austria, according to the company.
