Staloff exhibition opens at Butler

An exhibition devoted to the paintings of Fred Staloff opens Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art. Staloff (1924-2019) was born in New Jersey and was an engineering student in college when he joined the Army during World War II and participated in the invasion of the Philippine Islands and Okinawa. His experiences during the war changed his perspective and his career path. With aid from the G.I. Train show planned in Youngstown The Iron and Steel All-Gauge Model Train Show and Expo takes place Saturday at St. Mary’s Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. It will feature train sets, locomotives, rolling stock and accessories for model train collectors. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $7 with children ages 16 and younger admitted free. MV Punk Flea will span multiple venues

It will take three venues to contain the first Mahoning Valley Punk Flea on Saturday. The inaugural event will feature vendors and music from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. First Fridays Youngstown joins forces with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s 150th anniversary celebration for its next event. Events from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday are planned along West Federal Street, Vindicator Square and the surrounding area. Roxfest finds new home in Warren

Roxfest gets a new location and free admission for its 15th year. The music festival, which started as a way for Roxanne Johsnon of the hard rock duo Skull’Rz Bane to celebrate her birthday, will take place Saturday at Apothic Ink Tattoo Studio in Warren after being staged at more than half-dozen different locations over the years.
