ACTS explores ‘Mystery of Edwin Drood’

The musical “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” opens Friday for a two-weekend run at ACTS Performing Arts Center. Based on Charles Dickens’ final and unfinished novel, the musical invites audiences to solve the mystery for themselves — making every performance unique. The musical was written by Rupert Holmes, best known to pop music listeners as the man who wrote and sang the 1979 No. 1 single “Escape (The Pina Colada Song).” The musical won five Tony Awards, including best new musical, in 1986. Butler displays abstract works

The Butler Institute of American Art draws from its permanent collection for an abstract art exhibition on display for the next two months. Among the included artists are Ronald Davis, Leon Polk Smith, Nassos Daphnis, Nicholas Krushenick and Douglas D. Craft. Davis is a painter known since the early 1960s for his use of geometric abstraction, abstract illusionism, shaped canvas paintings and 3D computer graphics. Pumpkin Walk returns to Fellows Riverside Gardens

Mill Creek MetroParks will have its annual Pumpkin Walk at Twilight on Sunday at Fellows Riverside Gardens. Guests can stroll along pumpkin-lined paths as day turns to night and enjoy the seasonal beauty of the gardens. Another highlight of the event is Scarecrow Row.
