Reader series to feature poets from Cleveland

Two poets from Cleveland will be featured at Lit Youngstown’s next First Wednesday Reader Series event. Conor Bracken’s latest translation is of Jean D'Amerique's “Workshop of Silence” (Vanderbilt, 2025.) His second book of poems, “All-American Dad,” will be released this fall. He teaches at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Lindsay Turner's third collection of poems, “Middle Slope,” is forthcoming from Farrar, Straus and Giroux this October. Bruce Springsteen is dedicating his new song to the people of Minneapolis, criticizing President Donald Trump’s ongoing immigration enforcement operations in the city. State-funded Butler exhibit honors its founder

YOUNGSTOWN — The Butler Institute of American Art received a state grant to fund an exhibition inspired by the one that opened the Youngstown museum in 1919. The Trillium Local Activity Grant is one of 61 issued statewide for programming in conjunction with the 250th anniversary of the United States this year. Staff report Two arts events planned for Sunday have switched their plans with heavy snow in the forecast. “Fantastique,” a concert that the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra planned as the formal introduction of Erik Oschner, its new music director and conductor, has been moved to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. All tickets purchased for Sunday will be honored for the new date.
