Nude works celebrate human form at Art on Park

“Purple One” by Eric Kildow is one of the works featured in Nude on Park, which opens Saturday at Art on Park.

Area artists will bare their bare art for Art on Park’s Nude on Park exhibition.

This is the eighth edition of the show that celebrates the human form with a slant toward erotic art. According to curator Dovey Wuvey, acrylic paintings dominate this year’s exhibition. Nothing was censored and this year’s submissions leaned more into abstraction as opposed to works that might be considered obscene.

“There are less of the classical figure studies, less of the erotic pin-ups,” he said. “There are a few that rely on being witty for their punch, and a few body-positivity pieces. Other pieces break from the theme of human nudity and dive into themes of nature and chakras. We received art from several artists who have never entered a show here before, and we love to welcome them.”

More than 20 artists submitted their work for the nonjuried show. Some of the art is for sale, and the artist will receive 100% of the purchase price.

The opening reception Nude on Park will be 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Art on Park, 180 N. Park Ave., Warren. Admission is free, and those attending must be age 18 or older.

The opening reception will feature live music by Slugg, a project by Kristal Mills that “combines experimental sound with harsh techno to confront the uncomfortable, raw and real,” according to her website.

Starting at $3.23/week.
