Warren Chalk on the Walk rescheduled for Saturday

After being rained out in June, Chalk on the Walk and Youth Art Day will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at downtown Warren’s Courthouse Square.

Children will be able to create sidewalk art with free chalk.

Other activities include face painting, a scavenger hunt, photos and a truck tour with the Warren Fire Department, Spider-Man and Moana costumed characters and entertainment by Crash the Great, Howland’s Steel Tigers Drum Band and Kent State University at Trumbull Summer Stock.

Admission is free.

Stambaugh Auditorium hosts doo wop show

Tickets go on sale Friday for a concert featuring the music of The Coasters, The Drifters and The Platters.

Those doo wop acts from the 1950s all are Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, and their hits include “Yakety Yak,” “Under the Boardwalk” and “The Great Pretender.”

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 show range from $45 to $70 and go on sale at 10 a.m. at stambaughauditorium.com and by calling 330-259-9651.

McGuffy series offers WWII interment camps program

A program on Japanese internment camps during World War II will be offered by the William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society as part of its Memories of a Lifetime series.

Mark Masaki, a Youngstown State University emeritus psychology professor, will talk about his family’s experience living in the detention camps in California.

Following the bombing at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, multi-generational families were forced to relocate into temporary housing set up in several states and subsist on government rations.

The program starts at 10 a.m. July 19 at Denny’s meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for nonmembers. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
