BOARDMAN — Mercy Health officials cut the ribbon Friday on the Mercy Health Boardman Sleep Medicine Center, which is inside St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

The comprehensive site brings state-of-the-art technology, expanded capacity and multiple key services together under one roof to better serve patients across the Mahoning Valley, according to a news release from Mercy Health.

The center features eight sleep study beds — an expansion from the previous six — and houses the board-certified physician practice and durable medical equipment services in one convenient location.

By co-locating these services, the new center offers patients better access for diagnosis, evaluation and ongoing care, the release states.

“(Friday’s) blessing and open house at the Mercy Health Boardman Sleep Medicine marks an exciting chapter for the Youngstown community,” said Genie Aubel, president of St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

“By bringing our sleep lab testing facility, board-certified physicians and durable medical equipment together in one convenient location, we’ve created a one-stop shop that makes care easier and more accessible for our patients. We’re proud and excited to provide compassionate, comprehensive care that helps our patients rest easier and live healthier.”

Recognizing that patients experience feelings of anxiety when visiting medical facilities, the new sleep center was intentionally designed to create a relaxing, welcoming experience for patients. Features include soundproof walls, adjustable beds, state-of-the-art equipment and care from a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team.

The initiative was celebrated with a blessing and open house, where attendees toured the space and engaged with hospital leaders.

This opening marks an exciting chapter in expanding access to comprehensive sleep medicine services to the Mahoning Valley community.

Starting at $3.23/week.
