A cocktail for guests who want to stay dry

The holiday season is a festive time of year, and alcohol tends to feature prominently in the festivities.

While it’s perfectly all right for adults to enjoy a drink come the holiday season, some might want to abstain from alcohol, particularly if they’re getting behind the wheel after a party.

Hosts can keep in mind that some guests may not want to drink alcohol during a party.

But that doesn’t mean they won’t appreciate a unique and flavorful drink.

In such instances, hosts can mix up this nonalcoholic “Redcurrant Cocktail” from Lines+Angles.

REDCURRANT COCKTAIL (NONALCOHOLIC)

Makes 2 servings

INGREDIENTS:

8 sprigs red currant

3 tablespoons ginger syrup

2 tablespoons lemon juice

2 gold leaves

DIRECTIONS:

Reserve two sprigs of red currants for the garnish and put the rest in a sieve. Press down firmly with the back of a spoon to collect the juice then pour it into a cocktail shaker.

Add the ginger syrup and lemon juice to the shaker and add a handful of ice. Shake for 2 minutes until chilled and diluted.

Strain the cocktail into two small martini glasses and garnish each one with a sprig of red currants and a piece of gold leaf.
