Villa Maria names a new CEO
VILLA MARIA, Pa. — In June, Sister Jane Marie Kudlacz, HM, announced her intention to retire after 14 years as president and CEO of Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center.
As she steps down, Kudlacz leaves behind a legacy of a community ministry, poised for future development. Villa Maria officials said this growth will be supported by a dedicated Board of Directors, following an innovative strategic plan that aligns with its mission.
Prior to assuming this role at VMESC, Kudlacz was a Catholic secondary school teacher and administrator for more than 40 years, including many at Cardinal Mooney in Youngstown, and served on the leadership team of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. She is a graduate of Notre Dame College and John Carroll University and has studied theology at the Universities of Dayton and Notre Dame.
Her last day was Friday.
During this time of transition at VMESC, the Board of Directors announced the appointment of Rebecca Mickler as the new president and CEO. Officials said this decision follows a thorough and comprehensive selection process conducted by the board’s search committee.
Mickler’s candidacy was presented to the ministry’s sponsor, the Leadership Team of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, who officially appointed her.
Mickler has served as VMESC’s assistant executive director, a role in which she has provided leadership over the past four years, helping to advance the center’s mission of hospitality, education and spiritual growth.
Officials said Mickler brings to her new position not only this hands-on experience, but also a strong foundation in higher education administration and leadership.
A graduate of The Ohio State University, Mickler furthered her education by earning her master’s degree in college student personnel from the University of South Florida.
She is a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Duquesne University and has more than 20 years of professional experience in higher education, including roles at Florida Southern College, USF, John Carroll University, Duquesne University and West Virginia University.
Her work has included leading cross-cultural experiences in New Orleans, West Virginia and Tijuana, Mexico.
Mickler begins Monday.
