FAMILY/ FRIENDS DAY: Progressive Baptist Church, 2258 Colonial Ave. SE, Warren, will host Family and Friends Day at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Guest speaker is the Rev. Austin Shaw III from Community Church in God. The morning service with Pastor Daniel Johnson Jr. will be at 11 a.m.
VBS AT CHURCH: New Covenant Baptist Church, 1606 Salt Springs Road, Lordstown, will host vacation Bible school 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday to Friday for preschool to sixth grade. The theme is “Pilgrim’s Progress: From the World to That Which Is to Come.”
35 YEARS AS PASTOR: The historic Mount Zion Baptist Church will present a service honoring Pastor Jack W. Pettis for 35 years of service. The service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Greater Friendship Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave., Youngstown, and the Rev. James Bowie will be the speaker. Other events are planned later in the month.
PASTOR ANNIVERSARY: Beulah Baptist Church, 570 Sherwood Ave., Youngstown, will hold the second pastoral anniversary for the Rev. Kevin Strickland and First Lady Ebony Strickland at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 17. Guest speaker is the Rev. James Bowie of Greater Friendship Baptist Church in Youngstown. The theme is “Rooted in History, Flourishing in Faith.”
LABYRINTH SCHEDULE: The Ursuline Sisters Mission, 4280 Shields Road, Canfield, will begin its 15th year of guided labyrinth walks.
This year’s overarching theme is “Pilgrims of Hope” in honor of the Jubilee Year 2025. All persons of faith are invited to participate in these free, weather-permitting events. Walks take about a half hour and are set at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 21, Sept. 18 and Oct. 19. Printed guides are found at the labyrinth’s entrance, giving suggestions for following the path.

MASS AT FAIR: In order to serve rural families living on the fairgrounds, the Diocesan Office of Rural Life and Ministry announces opportunities to celebrate Catholic Mass at county fairs. Bishop David J. Bonnar will preside at the Canfield Fair Mass at 8 a.m. Aug. 31 in the 4-H Show Coliseum. All are welcome to participate.
FAMILY / FRIENDS DAY: Mount Olive Baptist Church, 385 Martin Luther King Blvd., Warren, will host a Family and Friends Day at 11 a.m. Aug. 27. All former members, families and anyone from the community are welcome to attend.
The church’s motto, “No Judgment Zone” means guests can come as they are.
SCHOOL MINISTRIES: School Ministries of Trumbull County is a nonprofit group made up of members from various churches.
With the passage of House Bill 8 signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in January and effective in April, the ministries program has reached out to a number of new schools because the wording was changed from schools “may” offer to “shall” offer the program.
The organization has been conducting the Released Time studies in Champion and Bristol school districts for the past couple of years for students in grades 5 to 8.

GUIDED LABYRINTH: Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center, Evergreen Road, Villa Maria, Pa., will offer a Guided Labyrinth Walk from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 20.
The theme is Letting Out Fear/Anxiety And Letting In Hope. The Labyrinth is a tool that allows us to explore our inner space and discover the sacred within and around us. Participants prayerfully walk the outdoor grass path after receiving thematic instructions from the presenter.
The event is held on the grounds of Villa Maria Community Center. The walks are offered free of charge. Registration is preferred.
