Winter Seminar

What: Join the Gardeners of Greater Youngstown for their annual winter seminar. Topics will include House Plant Care, Plants for Diverse Locations, Must Have Plants for 2023 and Basic Soil Science. The daylong event includes meals and a basket raffle.

When: 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. March 11

Cost: $80, including meals

Starting Seeds

What: Jumpstart 2023 gardening season by properly starting your seeds.

Ground Covers!

What: A discussion of ground covers as part of the Wednesdays in the Classroom series coordinated by the Trumbull County Master Gardener Volunteers.

Vernal Pools

What: Join OSU’s Marne Titchenell for an exploration of woodland vernal pools and the life inside them. This program will discuss Ohio’s frogs, toads and salamanders that can be found in and around vernal pools. Learn to ID frog calls, salamander species and explore the world of macroinvertebrates (fairy shrimp, caddisflies and more).

Gardening Workshop 1: Garden Spaces

What: Learn about “Creating Outdoor Rooms with Plants and Evergreens to Envy.” Breakouts include top 10 things for soils in spring; composting; houseplants and tropicals; and garden art options of ink tiles or a garden rug. Handmade garden art and garden treasures will be for sale during the event.

When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 22

Spring Gardening Workshop 2 – Perennials, Containers & More

What: The best plants in the best locations are the focus of this daylong seminar. Pam Bennett, OSU Extension, will share the “New and Tried-and-True in the Perennial World” and Laura Deeter, OSU horticulture, will speak on “Captivating Containers.” Breakouts include cut-flower gardens; soils; a garden walk-about with pruning; and garden art options of ink tiles or a garden journal.

Annual Plant Sale – Friends of the Greenhouse Consortium
