RETIREES TO MEET: St. Joseph Warren Hospital Retirees will meet 9:30 a.m. Monday at Wayside Restaurant in Champion. Retired and former employees from St. Joseph or Warren General Hospital are welcome to attend. Attendees are requested to bring nonperishable items for food bank donation.

PERI MEETING INFORMATIVE: At the October meeting, members of the Public Employee Retirees Chapter 18, were advised of the Windfall Elimination Provision & Government Pension Offset status. A significant step was taken on H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act of 2021 with the U.S. House Ways & Means Committee moving the legislation to the full House of Representatives. OPERS members are advised to contact Nancy Pelosi at 202-225-4965 to get H.R. 82 for a vote by the House of Representatives and hopefully get it repealed.

Chapter President Walter Duzzny advised, “to ensure that PERI is here to protect pensions and health care for current and future OPERS retirees, now is the time” to join local Chapter 18 by contacting Marilyn at 330-565-6913.

RETIREES TO MEET: Howland Schools Retirees will meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Enzo’s. All retired employees, classified and nonclassified, and spouses / guests are welcome to attend. Cost of the lunch, payable at the door, is $18 for a choice from four entrees offered. Call Mary at 330-856-5226 or 330-856-0483 by Saturday if you plan to attend. During the business meeting, plans for the December meeting and musical program of the Howland High School Choir will be discussed. News of retirees near and far will be shared.

GRANDS GROUP: Grandparents Raising And Nurturing grand Daughters and Sons is a support group for grandparents or caregivers raising a child other than their own, led by Bonnie Wilson, director of the Family and Children First Council of Trumbull County. GRANDS meets 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 3 at North-Mar Church, 3855 E. Market St. Babysitting available by calling the church ahead of that night.

SENIOR PRODUCTION: The Trumbull Senior Production Company will stage its 12th annual show, “Another Openin’, Another Show, Part II”, at 6 p.m. Nov. 5 and 2 p.m. Nov. 6, at SCOPE Warren Center, 375 North Park Ave., Warren (formerly YWCA).

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door or at any SCOPE location. No reservations are required.

WARREN SCOPE OFFERS PROGRAMS: The Warren SCOPE Center, 375 N. Park Ave., offers an indoor walking fitness area 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. SCOPE provides an incentive of gift cards for seniors who walk 50 miles.

The Center offers a SilverSneakers FLEX fitness session 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays. The SilverSneakers FLEX stretch class is offered at noon on Tuesdays.

Senior citizens who are Medicare-eligible can take classes for free. Non-SilverSneakers members pay $2 per class. For more information or to register for classes or lunch, call 330-399-8846.

NUTRITION SITES AVAILABLE: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly, provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs, operates seven sites. Meals are delivered to county residents 60 and older who are homebound. Donations are accepted. Call 330-675-2486. Reservations must be made by 2 p.m. two working days in advance.
