NILES — Residents concerned with the elimination of the city’s income tax department and the chance it could lose out on a grant it won to repair its pool crowded Niles City Council chambers Wednesday, where two members slowed the move to the Regional Income Tax Agency. Man charged after teen beat up

The Niles Times NILES — A man is being held in the Trumbull County Jail on a charge of felonious assault after reports a teen was beaten with a belt buckle and severely injured, according to a police report. Justin S. Riley, 20, 616 N. Main St., is being held on a $50,000 bond on the second-degree felony charge filed July 12 in Niles Municipal Court and is being held without bond on a 2015 case from the same court for carrying a concealed weapon, court records show. Nick Tirlea 1944-2017

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Nick Tirlea, 73, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in Lexington. He was born May 30, 1944, and spent five years in the U.S. Army. Nick was president and engineering manager at several transformer companies and also taught at Bluegrass Community College. Survivors include his sons, Nick and Jeff; four grandkids; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Dan Tirlea of Columbus; and sisters, Jeannie Rook of Lordstown and Sandy Robinson of Vienna. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his wife, Martha Jean Allen Tirlea; and one brother.

Tyler J. Mitchell 1999-2017

NILES — Tyler James Mitchell, 18, died Monday, July 10, 2017. Tyler was born June 11, 1999, in Warren, to J.W. Mitchell and Amy Dawn Jessie. Survivors include his father, J.W. Mitchell; his mom, Amy Dawn Jessie; and his brother, Connor John Mitchell. Arrangements were handled by Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.

John H. Boyle 1929-2017

NILES — John H. “Jack” Boyle, 88, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at the Hospice House. Jack was born April 9, 1929, in Smock, Pa., the son of Frank and Agnes Spara Boyle. He was a member of St. Stephen Church in Niles and was an Army veteran. Jack was a self-employed brick mason contractor. Jack is survived by a daughter, Colleen Barone of Poland, with whom he lived; two sons, James Boyle of Milwaukee and Shawn Boyle of Las Vegas; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Tock Boyle; a son, Michael Boyle; a brother; and a sister. ...
