MVHS schedules temporary closures of two museums

Mahoning Valley Historical Society announced temporary closures for its two museums — one for a few days, the other for a month. The Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown, will be closed this weekend and reopen Tuesday with regular hours, which are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave., Youngstown, will be closed in January for exhibit changeover and routine cleaning and resume regular hours on Feb. 3. The Stewart Media Archives is open by appointment only and can be reached by calling 330-743-2589, Ext. 105.

TNT announces auditions for ‘Deer Camp’

Auditions for the musical “Deer Camp” are scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 11 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Trumbull New Theatre, 5883 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. Cast requirements are four men for the musical comedy about four men who get together every year for a hunting trip. They get an ultimatum from their wives, but there’s one problem — none of them know how to hunt. Those auditioning should prepare 16 bars of music to sing. Brass Metropolis at Robins in March

Brass Metropolis returns to the Robins Theatre March 1. The Chicago tribute act features members of the W.D. Packard Concert Band and other area bands playing the horn-driven rock of a group that sold more than 100 million records. Perry Bamonte, guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, dies at 65

NEW YORK (AP) — Perry Archangelo Bamonte, longtime guitarist and keyboardist for the influential goth band The Cure, has died. He was 65.
